This is a great recipe. Wanted to figure out the sesame dressing we had at a Sushi restaurant we used to frequent. The restaurant's was more watery than creamy, so replacing some or all of the mayo with water is more accurate to the restaurant. But the flavor is spot on, the creaminess I think only depends on personal preference or use case (Creamy would be great added in a roll)
Sugoi Oishi! It was too thick for me though tasty so I eye balled the dashi stock dilute per your suggestion and added it. Maybe 4tbsp water to a half tsp of granulated dashi microwaved until diluted. I think the taste and texture as a result gave the dressing an even better experience. You saved my pocket book a big expense. Nice!
can i use just an ordinary mayonaise?i've been looking for the ready made dressing but none is available here in saudi.. your response is greatly appreciated. 🙂

Do I still have to toast the sesame seeds before I put it in to grind with the mortar and pestle?
