Strawberry Sauce With Crunchy Topping

Ingredients

.....1 (10 ounce) package frozen strawberries
.....1 teaspoon sugar
.....1 tablespoon cornstarch
.....2 teaspoons strawberry flavored liqueur
.....Crunchy Topping (recipe below)

Preparation

Place strawberries in a liquid measuring cup; add water to make 2 cups

Combine sugar and cornstarch in a saucepan. Gradually add strawberry mixture, stirring until combined; cook over low heat, stirring constantly, until smooth and thickened. Stir in liqueur. Chill. Spoon over ice cream, and sprinkle with Crunchy Topping.

Yield: 2 cups

Crunchy Topping

2 tablespoons butter, melted
2/3 cup flaked coconut
1/4 cup chopped almonds
3 tablespoons brown sugar

Combine all ingredients in a 9 inch square baking pan. Place under broiler, 4 inches from heat; broil, stirring occasionally, only until slightly browned.

Yield: About 1 cup
