Hawaiian Meatballs


Ingredients

.....2 pounds ground beef
.....2 eggs
.....1 chopped onion
.....1 teaspoon garlic salt
.....1 teaspoon salt
.....Flour
.....2 tablespoons melted shortening
.....1/4 teaspoon ginger
.....6 tablespoons brown sugar
.....1/4 teaspoon dry mustard
.....1/2 teaspoon onion salt
.....1 (10 ounce) can crushed pineapple
.....6 tablespoons catsup
.....1/4 cup vinegar
.....2 tablespoons cornstarch
.....2 tablespoons soy sauce


Preparation

Combine beef, eggs, onion, 1/2 teaspoon garlic salt and 1/2 teaspoon salt.  Shape into 15 balls.  Roll meatballs in flour; brown in shortening in skillet.  Drain on absorbent toweling.  Combine remaining garlic salt and salt with ginger, brown sugar, mustard and onion salt; blend with pineapple, catsup, vinegar, and 1 cup water in skillet.  Mix cornstarch with soy sauce; stir into pineapple mixture.  Simmer, stirring constantly, until sauce is clear and thickened; add meatballs.  Simmer for 20 minutes.

Yield:  6-8 servings
