Ingredients
Crust.....1 cup all purpose flour .....1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar .....1/3 cup butter, softened .....1/2 cup chopped walnuts Filling .....1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened .....1/4 cup sugar .....1 egg .....2 tablespoons milk .....2 tablespoons lemon juice .....1/2 teaspoon vanilla |
PreparationHeat oven to 350 degrees. In large mixer bowl combine flour, brown sugar and butter. Beat a low speed, scraping bowl often, until mixture is crumbly (2 to 3 minutes). By hand, stir in nuts. Reserve 1 cup of mixture for topping; press remaining mixture on bottom of 8 inch square baking pan. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes or until lightly browned. Meanwhile, in small mixer bowl combine all filling ingredients. Beat at medium speed, scraping bowl often, until smooth (4 to 5 minutes). Spread over hot crust. Sprinkle with reserved crumb mixture. Continue baking for 23 to 30 minutes or until golden brown. Cool; cut into bars. Store refrigerated.Yield: 16 bars |
