Beef Stroganoff With Pearl Onions

Ingredients

.....3 tablespoons butter
.....1 1/2 pound sirloin steak, cut into 1 1/2 inch pieces
.....1/2 teaspoon salt
.....1/2 teaspoon pepper
.....2 tablespoons all purpose flour
.....2 cups half and half
.....3 ounces cream cheese, softened
.....2 tablespoons tomato paste
.....2 cups (1/2 pound) fresh mushrooms, halved
.....1 cup frozen pearl onions, thawed, drained
.....1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
.....1 teaspoon marjoram leaves
.....Cooked egg noodles

Preparation

In 10 inch skillet melt butter until sizzling.  Add steak, salt and pepper.  Cook over medium high heat, stirring occasionally, until browned (5 minutes).  Stir in flour to coat steak; add half and half, cream cheese and tomato paste.  Reduce heat to medium.  Cook, stirring occasionally, until sauce is thickened (7 to 9 minutes).  Stir in remaining ingredients except noodles.  Continue cooking, stirring occasionally, until mushrooms are tender (3 to 4 minutes).  Serve over noodles.

Yield:  4 servings
