Ingredients
.....4 cups flour.....8 teaspoons baking powder .....2 teaspoons salt .....1 cup sugar .....2/3 cups vegetable shortening .....3 eggs, well-beaten .....2 cups milk .....1 cup drained maraschino cherries .....1/2 teaspoon almond extract .....1 teaspoon aniseed |
PreparationMix flour with baking powder, salt and sugar; cut in shortening with 2 knives until mixture resembles cornmeal. Beat eggs and milk together. Add egg liquid to flour mixture all at once.Beat to blend dough well. Fold in cherries, almond extract and aniseed. Turn dough into large floured pan. Bake in 350 degree oven for 1 hour to 1 hour and 15 minutes. Yield: 10 servings.\ |
